Parent conferences

Ben showing us his "readers" & "writers" notebooks.
He LOVED showing us his work.

We had Avery & Ben's parent teacher conferences tonight, and we absolutely could not be any prouder!

Ms. Ziembke was first, Avery's teacher.  She said that Avery is a great student, rule follower, focused during her work times, quiet but will participate when asked.  She is one kid that when you ask the other students in class who they want to sit by it's Avery.  She is a good kid that will not be getting them into any trouble.  They recently had a new little girl join their class and Avery was asked to pair with this girl as she is easy to talk to/with and plays well with all the kids.  She is her teachers "go to" gal!
She is doing well in her study, reading at the end of 2nd grade level already and her math and spelling are good as well.  Her teacher could not think of but positive things to say about her!

Then over to Ms. Nannen.  She is Ben's teacher and has the reputation of being the strict mean teacher that yells at her kids.  We have heard some things around & from Ben, such as he cannot ask for help in math because he will get in trouble.  So, we were anxious for our meeting. Surprisingly, Ben decided he wanted to join us for his conference and he just beamed around her.  She was warm and inviting to include Ben and his sisters in the conference.  They lead the conference together, Ms. Nannen would do her part and then Ben would share information as well.  I cannot even truly put into words the pure joy that was beaming from us.  Ben was engaged and really enjoyed being with his teacher and showing us his work.  He was smiling the entire time just waiting for his change to share.  (I was secretly kicking myself the entire time that I didn't bring in my phone, I sooooo wanted to capture that moment!) Our little guy is a worrier, all we hear at home is him telling himself is not a good student at this or that, but according to his scores he is totally smoking it!!  Lots of 4s!  He is a perfectionist.  One little thing and he worries.  She also mentioned that he continues to grow and become a better and better student all the time.   Ben is also reading at end of 2nd grade reading level.  And, his math and spelling scores are good.  Little guy has not missed a spelling word yet!  I know he didn't get that from me!!

We are bursting with pride tonight, we are truly blessed!
