Our kind of weekend. Friday my grandparents and Auntie Diane were driving through Lincoln on their way back up north and stopped to see us. They so graciously came early afternoon to watch Cameryn while Josh and I took Avery and Ben to their kindergarten for their buddy visit.
Josh and I meet other parents while we listened to the principal share with us "kindergarten" information. Three of the five kindergarten teachers came and took the kids to a classroom and hooked all the kids up with a current kindergartener to show them around, while we got our informational talk. Ben cried as he and Avery were walking up front. The principal earned points with me as he saw Ben crying, grabbed his hand and talked to him while he walked Ben out of the room. Ben was brave and pulled it together and was done crying before they actually left the room the parents were in. So, you know we had to stay after and talk to the principal. I wanted the principal to make the connection with Ben and his name. So, far I am very pleased with all three of my interactions with their elementary school. Let's hope that continues!
After a fun, 45 minutes at school we were back at home visiting with my grandparents and Auntie as Tanya, Cassie, Ella, Garrett and my parents joined us for dinner at our house. We were able to celebrate my Dad's 55th birthday while they were here. It was nice to be able to have the kids share in a birthday that is not one of theirs! It's good to show them that we all have birthdays, even grandpas! And, I know this is not my Dad's comfort zone, but he was a great sport! Here he is with his "girlfriends."
Bottom row: Avery, Ella, Ben, my Dad, Cassie and Cameryn.
Saturday, we all headed up to Omaha for lunch with Tanya and her kids. Then followed that up with Cassie and Ella's final choir concert of the year. As always the girls sang beautifully.
